First Night

Max Ulichney 2/2/2012
I have charcoal under my fingernails still.  It reminds me who I am.  It reminds me why we do what we do.  Sure we were rusty last night, but that's why we packed ourselves into a narrow, slightly-too-warm corner of the building for three hours last night.  We shook off some cobwebs.  We blew gently on the embers of our creativity.  We mixed metaphors.

It was a good turnout.  Ten people shared that space with our excellent model, and I was thrilled to have every one.  We had two complete rookies who did very well indeed.  They'll tell you they're embarrassed by their drawings, but what they lacked in art school education, they more than made up for in enthusiasm to try something way out of their comfort zones.  I will be proud to post their work here if they'll let me (or cave to my pressure to do so).  Emily and Sandra have my deepest respect.  I think they'd be happy to talk to you about their experience last night.

Many more fun nights like this to come, folks.  I'll improve my playlist before then.  Keep an eye out here and on the Elastic.tv Facebook page for more images from last night.
